The one thing to read

Your password is the only key to your vault. Nobody at CrNet — and nobody else — can reset it, recover it, or read your data without it. If you lose your password, the content of your vault is unrecoverable, by design. Write the password down somewhere physical. The app offers an erase-and-start-over path behind a typed confirmation, and that is the only answer to a forgotten password.

License

CrNet Inc. grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Shadow Locker on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple's App Store terms. The app is distributed through the App Store, and your use of it is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement where applicable.

Your data

You own everything you put in the vault. Because the content is encrypted on your device with a key only you hold, we cannot access it, restore it, hand it over in response to a request, or help you recover it. Keeping backups is your responsibility; Premium provides passphrase-protected backup archives for exactly that purpose.

Free tier and Premium

• The free tier includes the full feature set with capacity limits (10 notes, 10 photos and videos, 3 audio recordings, 3 files).
• Premium removes the limits and adds encrypted backups, share-into-vault, bulk export and duress mode. It is offered as a Weekly subscription or an Annual subscription — both unlock the same features.
• Purchases and subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your Apple ID account. The 7-day free trial on the Weekly plan is converted to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, and subscriptions renew unless cancelled in your Apple ID settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store refund policy.
• When a subscription lapses or is refunded, nothing is deleted: the vault degrades to the free capacity limits and existing content remains readable.

Acceptable use

You are responsible for the content you store and for using the app within the laws that apply to you. Nothing in the app is a promise of immunity from legal process: the app protects your data from others with technical means we document honestly, and it has no hidden capabilities — no back door and no master password exist.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, CrNet Inc. is not liable for loss of data arising from use of the app — which is why backups are a feature and a responsibility, not a slogan.

Changes

We may update these terms; continued use of the app after material changes constitutes acceptance. The privacy practices are described separately in the Privacy Policy, and the app's privacy claims are held by automated tests in the shipping source.
